Antarctic Enabler: A new chapter in our operations

At Aker QRILL Company, we started the year of 2026in the best possible way: With a gathering to officially name our newest vessel, Antarctic Enabler!

At an anticipated celebration at the Norse Shipyard, our colleague Sylvia Kirkenes, CHRO of Aker QRILL Compay, had the honour of being the Godmother of our newest vessel in our fleet.

CEO Webjørn Barstad commented:

" This investment underlines our commitment to maintaining our leadership position in the krill industry — securing access to renewable and sustainable marine raw materials that are vital for supporting the rapidly growing aquaculture industry and global food security. "We will continue to invest in both capacity and innovation to remain the most trusted and sustainable partner to the global aquaculture industry."

From carrier to advanced krill support vessel

The transformation of Antarctic Enabler demonstrates what's possible when the right partners come together. NSK Design handled the design process, and Norse Shipyard completed the conversion works in just 3.5 months — a remarkable achievement for a project of this scope.

In line with our vision for sustainable krill harvesting, Antarctic Enabler has been comprehensively upgraded with increased fuel storage capacity, a drone hangar and control station for multiple search drones supporting the fishing fleet, expanded and modernized accommodation areas, renewed waste management systems, and safety and operational systems upgraded to Polar Code standards.

Antarctic Enabler now offers a safe, comfortable, and highly functional environment for both crew and operational teams — capable of carrying out long-duration missions under the challenging conditions of Antarctica.
